Bernie Kosar could become next GM of Cleveland Browns
Written by Wayne A. Lett; Browns 24/7 Staff
In a perfect world for Browns fans, #19 would be back in the saddle again.
Albeit, not under center, but moreso in the role of general manager.
Yeah, you heard me right. Rumors are circulating that longtime fan favorite and former Browns QB, Bernie Kosar, could become the next general manager of the team, while a guy such as Ernie Accorsi teaches him how to be a successful NFL GM.
It’s no secret that Bernie still has a love for the game. In the pre-season, Kosar does color commentary for WKYC for Browns games. Just last year, Bernie was owner/GM of the Cleveland Gladiators of the AFL before it went under after the season.
In the weeks leading up to the George Kokinis firing, Randy Lerner has been seeking out advice from a lot of football people. He brought Kosar on staff as an advisor, but that role could easily be expanded to have more control.
If Ozzie Newsome can build the Ravens into a powerhouse of the NFL, surely the guy who threw him all those passes and made him the Hall of Famer he is, can do just as good of a job. Ozzie only spent 3 seasons as an executive with Cleveland before the team was moved to Baltimore, where he became the GM there.
Stay tuned to Browns 24/7 as we bring you the latest on the soap opera that is the Cleveland Browns.
