2-5, 1 HR, 3 RBIs, 1 3B                 2-4, 1 RBI, 1 2B                             1-3, 1 BB

Baseballs:

**Joe Mauer- Hit his 4Th Home Run of the season after going 1-2 and walked 3 times. Joe is hitting .325 on the season.

**Craig Monroe- Craig drove in the first 2 runs of the ballgame, finishing 1-2 with 2 walks and now is up to .222 with 28 RBIs.

**Alexei Casilla- Drove in the winning runs, getting a double and driving in 2, he now has 34 RBIs and is hitting .321 on the season.

**Denard Span- Denard went 1-2 with 2 walks. He is hitting .304 on the season.

**Twins Offense- They found a way to come back, they are pesky and they can get the hits, something the Indians can't do this year. Something I miss watching. The Indians were winning 5-2 after 2 innings, but the Twins slowly came back, kept chipping away and then scored 5 runs in the 6Th inning, putting the game away.

**Kevin Slowey- I am giving him a baseball because of what he did, after giving up 5 runs in the 2Nd inning, he immediately went to the video room and saw that he was keeping his pitches up and he adjusted. The Indians hitters did not adjust which was a major reason why we lost the game. 6 innings, 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 2 and struck out 6. Kevin has a 3.78 ERA, but he won the game which is all that matters.

**Matt Guerrier- The former Kent State native threw a scoreless 8Th inning, for his 10Th hold of the season. Matt now has a 3.13 ERA.

**Joe Nathan- Earned his 24Th save of the year, pitching a scoreless 9Th, giving him a 1.26 ERA.

**Grady Sizemore- Grady finished the evening 2-5, including hitting his league high 22Nd Home Run, he drove in 3 runs, giving him 50 on the season and earlier in the game hit his 4Th triple of the season. Grady should bat 3rd in the lineup, I'll keep saying that until it happens. He is hitting .266 on the season.

**Andy Marte- Andy drove in his first run of the season after going 2-4 in the evening and is up to .150 on the season.

**Kelly Shoppach- Kelly went 1-3 with a walk and is hitting .265 on the season.

**Rafael Betancourt- Threw 1 1/3 shutout innings, trying to keep the Indians in the game when the game was over with. He now has a 5.82 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Aaron Laffey- Aaron couldn't keep the lead together, he allowed Minnesota to chip away when he had a 5-2 lead. His final numbers were 5 innings, 4 runs (4 earned), walked 4 and struck out 4. The one thing that hurt him were his 4 walks and he now has a 3.49. He didn't get the loss, but he didn't help matters either.

**Tom Mastny- Blew the game away and his job was to throw a 0. He only threw 1/3 of an inning, gave up 4 runs (4 earned), walked 2 and didn't strike anyone out. He raised his ERA to 17.05.

**Rafael Perez- Rick Manning said it best when he said one thing Perez can't do is throw first pitch strikes like he did last year. He must find a way to do that. He threw 1 1/3 innings, gave up 1 run (1 earned), walked 2 and struck out 1. Perez now has a 3.55 ERA.

**Indians Offense- The Indians had a great 2Nd inning, scoring 5 runs, but after that, they never adjusted to what Kevin Slowey was throwing, and this is where a good hitting coach would hone in on. Watch the same video tapes that Slowey was watching in between innings. Instead they sat there dumbfounded when the umpire called strike three against them.

On Deck:

Well, I ordered the "Rampage" Jackson Vs Forrest Griffth UFC fight after the Indians had blown the game up and I am glad I did. What a fight, as for the Indians? The last time they won was last Friday when I was there. The second time this season they have lost 7 in a row, and the Indians should have the same kind of offense the Twins and even the White Sox have, a team that never gives up, and finds a way to win the game, kinda like last season. Yes, the bullpen blew this game, but it was still early enough where the Indians could have been mad and come back with a vengeance, instead they felt sorry for themselves and lost. So tomorrow is another game, and our best pitcher is pitching. Cliff Lee (11-1, 2.26) will take on Glen Perkins (4-2, 4.31). The game starts at 2:10 PM and will air on STO with Indians On Deck starting at 1:30 PM and the game will air on the radio on WTAM 1100-AM. Let's salvage this series so we can go into Detroit with a smile on our faces, please?

3-3, 1 HR, 2 RBIs                               1-4, 1 HR, 1 RBI

Baseballs:

**Nick Punto- Started the ball rolling by hitting his 1st Home Run of the season, he also had a double and finished the evening 2-4 with a walk. Nick is hitting .289 on the season with 13 RBIs.

**Delmon Young- Delmon hit the big shot of the night, with the score tied at 2-2, he proceeded to hit his 3rd Home Run of the season and drove in 4 runs. Delmon finished 3-5 and now has 33 RBIs and is hitting .289 on the season.

**Justin Morneau- Justin drove in 2 runs and went 2-3 with a walk. Justin has 65 RBIs and is up to .313 on the season.

**Livan Hernandez- He did enough to help his team win, 6 innings, gave up 3 runs (3 earned), he did walk 3 and struck out 4. Livan trimmed his ERA down to 5.18 on the season.

**Brendan Harris- He wasn't even supposed to play tonight, but still he went 2-4 and drove in a run. Harris is now at .249 on the year.

**Jason Kubel- Once again, Jason hurts the Indians, it doesn't matter how good or how bad he is doing, going after Indians pitching always puts him in a good mood. 2-4 night with a double and a run scored. Brendan is hitting .267 on the season.

**Twins Bullpen- 3 shutout innings from Brian Bass, who earned his 2Nd hold of the season, Matt Guerrier, who threw a shutout 8Th, and Jessie Crain finished the miserable evening off for the Indians. Bass now has a 4.45 ERA, Guerrier has a 3.20 ERA and Crain with a 2.80 ERA.

**Kelly Shoppach- The one Indians player the Twins could not get out, he finished 3-3 at the plate, including hitting his 7Th Home Run of the season, driving in 2 with 20 RBIs and now he is up to .264 on the season. Fantastic night.

**Ben Francisco- Started the 6Th inning to what looked promising, Benny hit his 7Th Home Run of the season, now has 29 RBIs and is hitting .278. Jhonny Peralta then doubled, Shin-Soo Choo walked, and with runners on 1st and 2Nd, you had a feeling the Indians were going to come back, but they had just taken their last breath instead. No more runs in that inning and no more runs that evening.

**Jorge Velandia- Came in to pinch hit in the 9Th and responded with a double, his 1st of the season. Jorge is hitting .200 on the season.

**Edward Mujica- Pitched 2/3 of an inning without giving up any runs, the only Indians pitcher to do that. He now has a 6.23 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Paul Byrd- Once again, Byrd was awful, only lasted 5 1/3 innings, gave up 6 runs (6 earned), walked 3 and struck out 4, on top of that gave up 2 more Home Runs, to guys that didn't have many this year. Byrd has an awful 5.53 ERA and has now lost 10 times already this year.

**Brian Slocum- Didn't make a good impressing coming into this game, he only lasted 2/3 of an inning, gave up 4 runs (4 earned), and is sporting a hefty 54.00 ERA. Judging by this performance, I am guessing Wedge won't use him for another 15 days.

**Jensen Lewis- Was a bit better than Brian, but he still had a rough 7Th inning. He finished up 1 1/3 innings, gave up 2 runs (2 earned), walked 1 and struck out 3. Jensen has a 4.22 ERA but to me he might be the key reliever down the stretch. He has to do better.

On Deck:

I hope everyone had a fantastic 4Th of July, and hopefully you skipped watching this game, if you didn't, I apologize. It was awful, this team has fully given up and are now feeling sorry for themselves. I heard the excuses of "injuries" are the reason this team is where they are at, but I still don't buy it. The hitting has always been awful all season long, if you can't make adjustments to what the pitcher is throwing how do you stand a chance to win? This might be the worst game we had played this year, which asks the question when will this team hit rock bottom and start to get on a roll? Maybe it will be tomorrow, but if it is, Aaron Laffey (4-5, 3.24) will have to stop this losing streak, somehow and someway. He will be opposed by Kevin Slowey (5-6, 3.47). Game time starts at 7:10 PM and will now air on STO. It was originally supposed to air on WKYC-TV3, but I guess Jimmy Donovan didn't even feel like traveling to Minnesota because the Indians were playing poorly. The game will be on the radio on WTAM 1100-AM. Let's get this win.

Borowski Designated for Assignment
Written by Anthony Castronevice
Friday, 04 July 2008
CLEVELAND -- The Joe Borowski era has ended for the Indians.

Looking to repair their battered bullpen and get a better read on what the future holds, the Indians designated the veteran Borowski for assignment on Friday. The club also designated seldom-used right-hander Rick Bauer, making room for Jensen Lewis and Brian Slocum to make their returns from Triple-A Buffalo.

Borowski had been the Indians' closer since the beginning of the 2007 season. He saved an AL-leading 45 games last year, despite a 5.07 ERA. It was the highest ERA in history for a league's saves leader.

This season, Borowski began the year pitching through a right triceps strain and blew two of his first four save opportunities. He went on the disabled list from mid-April to late May before rejoining the club. On the year, he was 1-3 with a 7.56 ERA and 6-of-10 in save situations.

The Indians are expected to go with a closer-by-committee situation, now that Borowski is ousted. Right-hander Masa Kobayashi might get the first crack at save opportunities. Manager Eric Wedge will address the situation when he meets with reporters before Friday's game in Minnesota.

Lewis, who was a key contributer in last year's bullpen and on the Opening Day roster, is returning after a five-week stint at Buffalo where he worked to get his command and velocity back in order. He went 1-2 with a 3.60 ERA in 11 appearances out of the Bisons' bullpen.

Slocum was converted from starting to relief work in early June. He made seven appearances out of the Buffalo 'pen, going 0-1 with a 0.69 ERA.

Bauer made just four appearances with the Tribe. He allowed nine runs in six innings of work.
