CLEVELAND - The normal life of a Die-hard Cleveland Sports fan, never expecting to much out of their hometown teams, because they know never to get their hopes up for failure. So far, The Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns have lived up to just that.
The Indians came into their season expecting to become a solid threat for the division once again, and then the American League. However, with their stars flopping, and their bats going south early, along with injuries. They were just doomed from the start. The Indians held first place once the whole season, and never even came close to second. They did however turn it around in the second half, after the trade of their star pitcher, C.C Sabathia, the Indians turned it around. To far down to make a comeback for the division, they actually ended up at .500. Fans expected much more from a team that was one game away from the World Series a year ago. Then you have The Cleveland Browns. The team that always seems to have a high draft choice, the team that actually always seems to have a decent off season. The Browns had a season to remember last year, when they went 10-6, just missing the division title and the post season by one game. But Browns fans thought next year(Current year now), would be one to ride with. The Browns upgraded position's that needed to be upgraded, even though they have some big holes, some teams ride with that until they are able to make more moves to make their team better. The Browns are in a dead hole right now, 1-3, third in the AFC North. Their offense, which was nothing short of fantastic last year, is ranked lowly in the league. Their pro bowl quarterback, Derek Anderson, isn't the same quarterback, and yes - Brady Quinn is still holding the clip board. Fans vent nonstop of the teams struggles, and who blames them. |

INDEPENDENCE: It will be just the basics for the opening of the Cavaliers' preseason against the Toronto Raptors tonight at Quicken Loans Arena. Coach Mike Brown said Monday he won't be looking for anything too complicated and he will emphasize execution over other elements of the game. ''We might not necessarily do everything correctly all the time, but if our guys just trust one another and trust the system on both sides of the floor, they try to help one another whenever they need to help their teammates, then communicate with one another. If they do those three things, then they'll have a chance to look pretty good out there even if the execution isn't where it needs to be,'' he said. Scanning the practice floor on Monday, one fact struck Brown: only three members of his roster — LeBron James, Zydrunas Ilgauskas and Daniel Gibson — were there at the same point last year. Add in Sasha Pavlovic and Anderson Varejao, and you have only five coming back from last year's roster before the team's big trade in February. Still, at this point, Brown said, he's looking more for attitude than anything else. ''I want all my guys to try to play hard. I want all my guys to try to defend,'' he said. ''No matter what combinations are on the floor, you don't want anyone to be selfish. . . . They're just going to go play and try to win the game as a team.'' |

CLEVELAND - LeBron James walked into Cleveland Clinic Courts with a smile on his face, fresh off his Gold Medal run with team USA this past summer, James believes he has improved since last season, and in a huge way.
"Me, as an individual, I know I've improved, I think five times [better] than I was in Game 7 of the Boston series," James said during the Cavaliers media day on Monday at Cleveland Clinic Courts. You don't know what's crazier, LeBron saying hes better than that Game 7, or the five times better. LeBron and Boston's Paul Pierce had a shootout, something the media and fans thought would be the whole series outcome. However, it was just Game 7, the most important game. LeBron also believes he can lead The Wine and Gold right back into the NBA Finals this year, as well. "As a leader, I think I can lead these guys to a championship," James said. "We really believe that. It's not about making the playoffs any more for our team. It's about winning a championship." For a few years, it was about making The Playoffs. But everyone knew, with James, The Cavs already locked up a seed in The East. |

2007-2008 In Review Record: 45-37 Eastern Conference Seed: 4 Playoff Results: Lost to BOS in Eastern Conference Semifinals (4-3) Summer Of 2008 Key Additions: Maurice Williams (via trade), J.J. Hickson (via draft), Tarence Kinsey (via free agency), Lorenzen Wright (via free agency). Key Losses: Devin Brown (via free agency), Joe Smith (via trade), Dwayne Jones (via free agency), Damon Jones (via trade). Cleveland Cavaliers general manager Danny Ferry has not been sitting at the cool kid’s table over the past year and a half (to put it lightly). In fact, a fair amount of Cleveland die-hards had been waiting for his resignation/firing. His inability to put an upper-class supporting cast around LeBron James simply did not earn the respect of many fans. Very seldom did Ferry get a pat on the back. Until August 13, 2008. Roughly six and a half weeks ago, Ferry broke out of his shell as the largest beneficiary of a shocking three-team blockbuster that sent highly talented guard Maurice Williams to Cleveland. The best part about it? All they had to part ways with were the expiring contracts of disgruntled sharpshooter Damon Jones and veteran forward Joe Smith. |
