CLEVELAND -- The Browns might be hard-pressed to find a receiver as productive as Antonio Bryant if they decide he is not worth pursuing in free agency.
Bryant made his strongest case yet for being re-signed when he caught nine passes for 123 yards in the 20-16 victory over the Ravens yesterday. One catch was for a six-yard touchdown that cut the deficit to 16-13.
Bryant finished the season with 69 catches for 1,009 yards. Both numbers are personal highs for the 24-year-old the Browns player acquired last season for Quincy Morgan in a trade with the Cowboys.
''For all of us, it's great to go out on a high note,'' Bryant said. ''Now we can go home with a good taste in our mouths.''
Bryant caught 25 of his passes in the five games Charlie Frye started. He said he wants to return to the Browns and be on the same field next year with Braylon Edwards and Kellen Winslow, but he is going to leave it up to his agent and the Browns. The Browns are mindful of his seven dropped passes throughout the season.
''One thing about me, I don't take many plays off,'' Bryant said. ''Go back and watch film after film after film. I'm 24. I'll play every snap if I have to. I'm an energetic person and I have to be involved.''
The Browns have been non-committal about Bryant. READ MORE / LINK |
