The Browns have secured one of their most valuable special teams contributors for the 2008 season.
The team has signed linebacker Kris Griffin to a one-year contract, the club announced Wednesday.
Griffin played in 12 games in his first season as a Brown in 2007. He made 14 special teams tackles, finishing fifth on the team, despite missing the final four games of the season due to a knee injury.
Griffin joined the NFL with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of Indiana (Pa.). He played in 8 games as a rookie in 2005 and all 16 games in '06, marking a career-high 22 special teams tackles during his second season in the league.
