Written by VT Browns Fan
Wednesday, 23 April 2008
I am a Freshman at Virginia Tech. You see I am originally from Northern VA and everyone around here is either a Redskins or Steelers fan (oddly, very few ratturd fans), but very few Brown fans. My dad, a diehard Vikings fan, taught me one thing, to hate the Skins. But I can honestly say that Steeler fans annoy me way more than Skins fans, just for the fact that they are more arrogant and ignorant than Skins fans.

But this post isn't really about that. You see I love the Browns, I have my whole life. I have been to 3 Browns games, the Christmas Eve 41-0 massacre against pittsburgh, the 30-0 massacre against Cinci last year and the 17-7 victory over San Fran. this year. The things I learned over these 3 visits (especially the first 2) taught me more about Browns fans than the countless games i have watched.

Browns fans are apart of America. We are the people that might not like the more glamorous aspects of the sport we love. We appreciate the blindside block by Joe Thomas to allow DA to throw the TD to Braylon more than the actual pass and catch. We appreciate the MLB who fills the hole more than the MLB who makes the tackle. We love the players like LCB and JJ who come back home just for the fact that this is home to them and they know this is where the sport is true and genuine. We love the game because because of the past greats like Marion Motley and Gene Hickerson, and Otto Graham, and Jim Brown, and Lery Kelley, and Brian Sipe, and Bernie, and (some of my childhood favs) Eric Turner, and Eric Metcalf. I also feel like we love the game because it is an oppuritunity for us to come together and realize what sports and life is all about. We love the game because every Fall Sunday we get to see each other, enjoy our company, cheer our beloved team. Fans of other teams probably do the same, but I have only ever seen it out of Browns fans. We love our team because of Municipal Stadium, we love our team because of the orange pants, we love our team because we still know Otto Graham was the best QB ever. Sure things haven't gone our way recently, but we are still Browns fans because that is all we know and that is all we want to know. I truly think we are the best fans in the world not because we are the best team, but because we still sellout even when we suck. And I love the Browns and their fans for all of this.

I wanted to post this to you all on April 16, but my emotions were just too drained. My brother was in the building right next to Norris Hall (the building where the majority of the shooting took place), if that guy would have gone to the left one building my life would be completely different. For everyone that takes the time to read this I just want you all to think of the people you love. I don't care if you tell the people you love that you love them, just want you to think of the people you love. This post may not make much sense to you, and I really don't care if no one responds, I just needed to get some things off my chest and i figured fellow Browns fans were the best place to go. I hope you all take care and be safe.

Go Browns.
