The reality is that draft day is like Christmas (Or insert your favorite holiday here) for most NFL fans. You anticipate it for several weeks, if not months. You sit, guess and wonder what present your team is going to open up.

It could be a new Xbox360 or home-theater system (i.e., Joe Thomas or Braylon Edwards). Or it could be a box of underwear and a fruit-cake (i.e. Gerard Warren or William Green).

This year was a little different. This year the parents allowed the kids to open their presents early and now have to wait until they get to grandma’s house later to open up the secondary presents Grandma always seems to get us. 

However, every so often someone at Grandma’s house buys you something you don’t expect. Something you didn’t realize you were getting. Sometimes you don’t realize you really like it until you give it a chance and use it. Before you know it, what you considered to be a pretty cool device and/or toy turns into one of your go-to items.

The one thing on your mind though is that your parents seem to have a surprise up their sleeve once in a while even though they said they were done shopping and they didn’t get you much. Perhaps when you wake up in the morning, there is a new present for you waiting and you didn’t see it coming. Your parents played somewhat of a prank on you, but it was welcomed because it was a very pleasant surprise. 

That’s what the draft is for us fans.

Maybe we will all wake up tomorrow and at some point during the draft Savage will have traded back into day-one – maybe even the first round – and we can all discuss if it was worth the move. 

Well folks as of right now, the reality is that we only know we have a day-two pick so we are going to have to wait until we get to Grandma’s house and hope there is a surprise waiting for us over there. 

Here are five intriguing prospects who could be available on day two...

1.  Shaun Crable OLB/DE, Michigan – The former Washington High School stand-out went on to have a very good career at Michigan and may not be available on day-two. However, there are several mock drat projections that have Crable going in rounds 3-5. Slipping to day two could be a gift for the Browns. Set the Michigan school recoprd for 28.5 stops for a loss, which was also fourth most for a single season in the history of the big-10. Has big play ability and can bring an edge rusher opposite Kamerion Wimbley. Steve Doerschuk of  The Canton Repository has recently reported the Browns may even try to move to round three in order to secure Crable.

2. Spencer Larsen, ILB/OLB, Arizona – An outside linebacker in a cover-two        system at Arizona but would most likely project to ILB in a 3-4. Not the fastest guy on the field but is hardly ever out of position and always wraps up the ball-carrier. Led the Wildcats and Pac-10 conference and ranked tied for thirteenth nationally with a career-high 131 tackles in his senior season including 17 against USC. Of those 131 tackles, 87 were solo which ranked third in the nation. Larsen would benefit playing behind the Browns defensive line. Their size and ability to fill gaps. A guy who could contribute on special teams and provide depth at linebacker. A major sleeper.

3.Steve Johnson, WR, Kentucky -- Johnson has decent size at 6’2” 210 lbs.. Became one of the SEC’s top receivers in 2007. Caught 61 passes for 1052 yards and 13 TD’s as a senior. Could become what Travis Wilson could not – A solid WR who has sure hands and can help stretch the field. He could learn behind Jurevicius and take his role once JJ ultimately retires. With the type of offense the Browns run, receiver depth is essential. With the signing of Donte Stallworth, a draft pick like Johnson could be the final piece to the receiving puzzle.

4.Patrick Lee, CB, Auburn – Some mock drafts have Lee going as high as the second round but many have him as a second day pick. He would be another find for the Browns. He brings size at corner being 6’0”, 200 lbs and runs at a decent speed. Lee started all 13 games as a senior collecting four interceptions, ten pass deflections and 55 tackles. He can also help in the run game. With the lack of depth at corner, Lee would immediately fight for playing time.

5. Ryan Torain, RB, Arizona State – Many mock drafts a year ago had Torrain pegged as a late-first, early second round pick and a possible candidate for the Heisman. Then he fractured his big toe and was done for the season. Then he ran a 4.6 40-time at the combine. Make no mistake though, when healthy, Torain is a gamer. Don’t let the 40 time fool you, he has good football game speed. I know everyone is looking for another Terrell Davis, but the reality is that this guy is very similar to Davis in terms of running style but with a slightly larger frame. This would be another find if the Browns can pull the trigger on Torain during day-two.

The Browns may not have a day-one pick at this time and anything is possible, but the Browns have a smart, savvy general manager who likes to make deals and find diamonds in the rough. If you don’t have plans to pay attention to the draft this weekend, I strongly suggest you reconsider.
