BROWNS SIGN SEVEN PLAYERS The Cleveland Browns have signed OL Atlas Herrion, LB Justin Kurpeikis, OL Pete McMahon, WR Kendrick Mosley, LB Clifton Smith, DB James Thornton and RB Jason Wright as reserve/future free agents, the club announced today. Herrion, 6-4 and 313 lbs., spent the entire season on the club’s practice squad. Herrion played collegiate football at Alabama and spent the 2004 season on the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad. Kurpeikis, 6-3 and 248 lbs., spent the entire season on the Browns practice squad. Kurpeikis has played in 14 career games with New England and Pittsburgh. McMahon, 6-8 and 330 lbs., spent the entire season on the club’s practice squad. McMahon, played collegiate football at Iowa and was originally a sixth-round draft choice (214th overall) in the 2005 NFL Draft by Oakland. Mosley, 6-2 and 197 lbs., was on the Browns’ practice squad for the final four weeks of the 2005 season. Mosley spent the 2004 season on the Atlanta Falcons’ practice squad. Smith, 6-3 and 267 lbs., joined the Browns for the final ten weeks of the regular season on the club’s practice squad. Smith played in one game for Washington in 2003 and spent the 2004 season on injured-reserve with the Redskins. Thornton, 5-11 and 185 lbs., spent the final seven weeks on the Browns’ practice squad. Thornton spent the 2003 training camp with Chicago and the 2004 and 2005 training camps with the Atlanta Falcons. Wright, 5-10 and 210 lbs., played in three games this season for the Browns and had 11 carries for 27 yards and one rushing touchdown, along with three receptions for 15 yards. Wright scored his first NFL rushing touchdown on a six-yard scamper vs. Tennessee on Nov. 6, in a 20-14 victory over the Titans. Wright had two stints on the Browns’ practice squad this season, as he spent the first seven weeks of the season and the final two weeks on the practice squad.
