(MINNY) - Well, round one of the firing and hirings have begun and its the Minnesota Vikings that have jumped out with the lead. They fired Mike Tice mere minutes after the Vikes final win of the season and dispite having a winning season. The ownership felt the off-field shenanagans really embarrassed them and felt a change was in order. So after interviewing a few guys, they quickly pounced on Philadelphia Eagles Offensive Coordinator Brad Childress. Childress, interviewed last year by the Browns, is making his first stint as a head coach in the NFL. He led the Eagles to 4 straight conference championships including 2004's SuperBowl. This year was his first losing season which was attributed to McNabb and Westbrook getting hurt, and 'the TO' being told to go home and stay there.
(DALLAS) - Amid rumors speculating that this could be Bill Parcell's last season with the Poke, Bill went out and signed a 2 year contract extension firmly ending the rumors, at least for a year or two. The Cowboys are stacked with personnel and have made wise choices to compete for 2006, so why not bring Bill back.
(KANSAS CITY) - Dick Vermeil cried for the last time as he retired for the last time this year. In what was one of the worst kept secrets in the NFL, they had one person on their list of coaches to replace Vermeil. It was Herm Edwards. The problem was that Herm was still the property of the New York Jets with 2 years left on his contract. That problem was taken care of this week as the Chiefs sent a 4th round pick in this years draft for Edwards. So now the Jets have bought a ticket on the Coaching Carousel.
We'll, keep ya updated with news from around the league every Saturday with a recap of what took place in terms of coaching hirings and firings. For the latest info, keep it locked to the NFL BS'in forum in our message boards. COACHING CAROUSEL
