Pro scouts will have divided attentions this week with both the East-West Shrine and Hula Bowls on the schedule for the week. The Shrine has a new look of sorts with the game being played Saturday afternoon at 4 PM ET in San Antonio after being held in the San Francisco area for decades. Headlining the Shrine rosters are QBs Reggie McNeal of Texas A&M, Bruce Gradkowski of Toledo, Paul Pinegar of Fresno State, Drew Olsen of UCLA and Brett Basanez of Northwestern. In what may be something of a theme over the next several weeks, the top prospects at the Shrine game are likely to be along the offensive line where Andrew Whitworth of LSU, Joe Toledo of Washington and South Carolina’s Jabari Levey are all top prospects in this year’s very good OT class.
Meanwhile, Cornell OG Kevin Boothe, Abilene Christian CB Danieal Manning and Weber State OT Paul McQuistan head an intriguing group of small college prospects, which also includes star Canadian WR Andy Fantuz of Western Ontario. For its part, the Hula game will be played at 7 PM ET Saturday night, however, the rosters for the Hula game do not appear to have been announced as yet. Meanwhile, Miami FB Quadtrine Hill and Tulane SS Tra Boger each scored two touchdowns to lead the East past the West 41-3 in the Las Vegas All-American Classic which was played on Saturday. Hill scored on a nine-yard run and another off a pass from Central Michigan QB Kent Smith, while Boger scored on a 40-yard interception return and a fumble recovery from 24 yards. Hopefully, we’ll have a little more detail on the LVAAC later in the week. |
