iambrownSuper Bowl Day Diary

Another Sunday peeks its little head over the horizon and I'm wondering what to do, what to do....

Well, I'll begin by communing with other Browns fans- the way I start every day in my Browns sweatpants, Browns t-shirt and Browns fleece jacket for extra warmth- checking out all the different Browns sites, seeing what Browns fans might be talking about.

Anything of special interest to Browns fans today? Any Browns fan need me to pray for them, help them buy something new or join in some Browns fan-inspired revelry?

Maybe I'll play some arcade games on the best Browns site around . Yep, just another day in Cleveland, Home of the Browns.

When I'm done with that, I may go outside and build a Browns snowman with the 1/4 inch of snow that finally got 'dumped' on Brownstown. Or I'll take my little rusty old car with its Browns license plates, Browns medallion displayed on the back and Browns helmet keychain hanging from the rear-view mirror surrounded by brown and orange beads and go shopping and see if I can find some brown or orange clothing to add to my wardrobe. Yeah, that sounds good.

I could spend more time on the computer playing with images I've taken of -let's see- the Browns or I could even go through the pictures I have from all those tailgate parties that I go to on the truly super Sundays that begin in the Muni Lot where I spend those last few hours before a Browns game partying with other Browns fans.

I bet I'd like that.

Not much to watch on TV today; doubt there'd be anything on about the Browns...I think there is a game on later, I'll put it on but won't pay it any attention since I'll be celebrating the birthday of my nephew's girlfriend -a Browns fan- with her and some other Browns fans.

Maybe we'll get her a nice cake with Browns colors and a Browns helmet from the Dairy Queen that makes those extra-special delicious Browns-look ice cream cakes. Definitely. Definitely gotta get one of those cakes.

Other than that, there's really nothing I can think of to make this day stand out from all the other Sundays that come and go when the Browns aren't playing. So, I'll just fill it up with other things....

That same day, a few drinks later:

Big Freaking Whoop!

So what? GoDaddy.com's commercial was about tits again? Didn't you just figure that's what it would be? Someday their audience will tire of that stuff...or not. I don't know. How bout that Puppy Bowl? Immediately following that other game we turned on Animal Planet to see the Puppy Bowl. Guaranteed win for the good guys here.... Adorable puppies. All giving the poodle shiznit. It was very good television. Even the commercials had adorable puppies in them; very satisfying.

Got me out from under the living room table. Like I used to do when my father would come home drunk and I would hide under the tables. I was smaller then. But, we never had the Puppy Bowl when I was a kid... We did have color tv. No remote but, it was color!

Anyway, this Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet rocked. There was even a referee but unfortunately no one peed on him. But, by far, the best thing was the water bowl camera. They had a glass bottomed bowl so you could watch the puppies from an underwater perspective. It was extremely effective. Produced many an "oooooooh". Very nice work there. There wasn't a discernable point the Puppy Bowl game. Many things were on the field. Distractions I guess you'd call them. Things that made the Dawgs look away for a moment. Then, next thing you know they're chewing on some ferocious pink thing and nothing else in the world matters. Puppies sure are cute little things. Wow, this whole entry has been about puppies in one way or the other. You guys caught that a lot sooner than I did, didn't you? Cause one thing we all know is guys like puppies...

There's a woman I work with who's one of those kind of people and I have to congratulate her tomorrow. No question about it. I want people to be classy when it's our turn. Not you guys of course! I wouldn't dream of asking that. Cause I know I won't be- for a while. Then life will step in again and it'll just be a feeling that lingers with you whenever you think about it.

Shortly after the last score of the game, RJ turned to me and said to me, "How bout those 2004 Red Sox, Auntie?"

That felt good.

It'll be our turn someday soon. And it'll feel good.
