JoseThe Annual Life of a "Football Junkie".

I know this is a site for football fans. And God knows the Cleveland Browns have a lot of fans. And we appreciate you visiting here and participating in this site.

We feel it is our duty to inform fans of an ever increasing addiction that is raging across our nation. It's called NFLA. Short for National Football League Addiction.

Yes,believe it or not, many fans have crossed over the boundries from just being a fan into an addictive, destructive lifestyle that goes beyond the bounds of normalcy.  Selling precious gems and family heirlooms just to buy a PSL! Spending their paid vacation days going to training camp, rather than plan and spend vacations with their family. Spending countless hours on the internet studying draft predictions and in football forums rather than spending quality time with their families.

DawgyLamaTheir have even been reports of men trying to brainwash his entire family into the realm of football addiction so he has them to join him in the misery of his addiction. I could go on but some of the stories are simply to horrific.  So, to better understand this addiction better I went undercover and mingled with and yes even joined into the places where they congregate. I took an inside look at the life of a football junkie.

Here is my report...

1. Jan. - Super Bowl is over. Time to start looking toward the draft. Sure it's months away, but beginning to look at team needs and the top 150 prospects can never begin to soon. Plus you have coaches hiring and firings. How will the players on those teams fit into the new system and what players may be let go due to these changes.

2. Feb. - FA period is on its way.  Time to start looking at teams cap stats, looking for rumors, and possibilities of the "prime beef" that may be there for your team and what other teams may be competing for these players. *NOTE: At this point the junkie is desperate. His connection isn't holding and any crumbs he can find to sustain him is all he can hope for.

3. March - Let the games begin. FA signing period is wide open. Players moving all around the league. Looking at who each team signs and how these signings may effect their draft strategies and yet a further hint as to draft intensions by some teams.

4. April - The draft is now quickly approaching and the job gets done. Now the junkie can evaluate the draft, see just which teams won and lost in the draft. They can look how this will effect each teams roster and evaluate the threat that each team may pose by the season opener. *NOTE: From the start of the FA signing period until the end of the draft is the biggest "fix" the junkie will have until the start of training camp in the summer. They must make the most of this and injest all the supply they can find in order to survive.

5. May/June - The most painful months in the life of the "football junkie". Other than a few mini-camps in late June, news is slow and other than reflecting on the draft and players getting DUI's,carrying concealed weapons, getting busted with drugs and spousal abuse, there's simply no supply. Other than some June mini-camp blurbs it's dry everywhere.

NOTE: At this point, the junkie is down and out. He's desperate and there simply are no re-hab facilities to help him with his addiction. This is pure torture in the life of a football junkie.

6. July/August - Finally the break the football junkie needed! Training camps are in full swing! News on the competitions between rookies and veterans are streaming in from around the nation. Roster cuts everywhere and some of the cuts are stunning!

Yes, the junkies veins are being fed.

FOOTBALL SEASON! The junkie can relax now. He now fits back into society just like any normal fan.  He doesn't look nuts wearing a football jersey like he did in the middle of baseball season. From now until the end of January he doesn't have to look over his shoulder because he doesn't know A-Rods batting average. His life is complete until the whole vicious cycle starts over.

Now you may ask how you can prevent this disease from entering your home? If you can see the problem coming, you can prevent it. Any time there is a football game or program on television, he or she will demand silence and stare for hours at the television as though he were in a trance. Spend hours on the internet discussing and studying players and oposing teams.

One helpful hint is to look on your boyfriend/husbands internet favorites list. When football sites and football forums start outnumbering porn sites, you can bet there are underlying addiction problems there. It all begins when he just can't keep talking about his favorite team. Then when he branches out into following the entire NFL,mock drafts and fantasy football, the addiction is in full swing!

As of now, the medical community has ignored this addiction and seems to be turning their heads. All the while the addiction is spreading.  It makes it very difficult for the football junkie to get rehabilitation. At this point, it's something each family must deal with on their own. In my study, I've found only one thing that has been helpfull. Some women have resorted to wearing very sexy attire around the house and throwing sex at their men frequently to get his attention away from football. In some of these cases, the men in question have responded quite well and these women once again have their men on a tight leash. But there is no sure-fire cure for NFLA and no research is being done. That's why I felt obligated to inform our readers as to this increasing problem.

I hope this helps you to see how this has effected the lives of the junkies and their families.

For those afflicted with NFLA, my thoughts and prayers are with you...

And you know who you are!

Until next week, this is the Ol' PitDAWG sayin' C'Ya!
