A day for milestones, as we see the beginning of a new era on offense and the fall of one of the most embarrassing stats to have for an NFL team.
Rookie quarterback Charlie Frye started his forst NFL game today and in the first quarter alone threw for 2 TD's both to Braylon Edwards. Fans can consider the Frye to Edwards era officially begun. On the first TD to Edwards, which was more of a jump ball in the endzone on a free play becuase of a penalty at the snap, Edwards caught the ball and immediately ran to the rookie QB and gave him the ball. It was Frye's first official TD pass in his pro career, since pre-season stats do not count. In the first half of the game Charlie Frye is 8 of 11 for 180 yards and the 2 touchdowns. After throwing an INT in only one series attempt last week, Charlie has not thrown an INT today. He would be 10 of 11 if it was not for 2 costly Antonio Bryant drops. The most disturbing and embarrassing record to have as an NFL team is the 20 year drought for a Browns running back to hit the 1,000 yard mark. Today, Reuben Droughns reached that mark in the first half against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In the first half alone Reuben has 62 yards on 20 carries. Congrats Charlie and Reuben from all of us at Browns 24/7!
