BROWNS K PHIL DAWSON NAMED AFC SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER-OF-THE-WEEKNailed three field goals including game-winning 37-yard field goal in Browns 9-7 win at Oakland Cleveland Browns K Phil Dawson was named AFC Special Teams Player-of-the-Week, the NFL announced this morning. Dawson led the Browns to a 9-7 win at Oakland, as Dawson converted all three of his field goal attempts, including the game-winning 37-yard field goal as time expired. Dawson has converted 25-of-27 field goal attempts this season for 92 points. His three field goals at Oakland increased his season total to 25 field goals made and established a single-season career-best for Dawson, which topped his previous high of 24 in 2004. Dawson is also eight points shy of matching his career-high of 100 points in both the 2002 and 2004 seasons. Dawson, a seven-year veteran, is the franchise leader in field goal accuracy and ranks second in NFL history with 83.6 percent (133-of-159). This is the second time in his career to win the AFC Special Teams Player-of-the-Week award, as Dawson earned the mark on Sept. 30, 2001.
